Rest is really hard. 

Many people who struggle to rest experience a whole host of physical symptoms. Often there’s digestive issues, bloating and brain fog, plus too much stress and busyness. All of this can lead to a racing mind and trouble sleeping, leaving us feeling exhausted, overtired and depleted. 

 

Beyond the physical symptoms, there’s often much deeper issues. It shows up differently for everyone but commonly it includes a pattern of putting others' needs ahead of our own, a tendency to people please or perfect or stay so busy that we never have a moment to ourselves. 

Because when we actually slow down, we just simply don’t know how to be with what comes up. That inner critic comes out.  She tells us - that we’re broken, unworthy or not enough, and that can be tough to face.

 

So we stay busy and exhausted, stuck in patterns of survival and living stories that aren’t serving or supporting us.

Yet, there is this longing for a deeper connection within.

Ayurveda asks us to know ourselves.

Ayurveda the ancient Vedic sister science to Yoga, is derived from the Sanskrit words ayur which means
"life" and "longevity," and Veda, meaning "knowledge" or "science." Ayurveda is the science of life.

Both preventative and curative, Ayurveda includes combining daily self-care routines, seasonal foods,
yoga and natural lifestyle practices to acquire optimal health and happiness.

Meditation

Simple, small changes can create profound effects.

When we create little rituals within our day and we show up for ourselves day after day, even if it’s just a moment of silence, we develop deep self-trust.

These practices of showing love, care and attention to ourselves are a big part of re-writing our life stories and creating a new path to health and wholeness.

In a very unexpected way, by prioritizing rest, the entire momentum of our lives begins to shift.

As this unfolds, so too does the deep work of uncovering patterns and stories that are keeping us stuck, revealing a deeper understanding of who we are and making room for all of us - Everything Belongs.

  • We begin to see the beauty amongst the brokenness and create room for all of ourselves. 

  • We learn powerful, yet simple tools and resources to take care of our physical bodies - how to feed ourselves, how to sleep well and how to create routines that deeply nurture us.

  • We learn to support our minds by reducing stress and busyness and we develop practices that foster calm, peace and clarity

  • We repattern our nervous system and learn how to be in the present moment.

  • We learn to reconnect with our spirit and realign with the rhythms of mother nature, the seasons and the moon, reminding us that we are not alone, but part of a much larger system. 

And miraculously, we begin to fall in love with ourselves, as self-trust re-emerges we gain connection and confidence and feel comfortable in our own skin.

And paradoxically, it all begins with rest.

For the past 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting my clients on their journey toward overall health. 

When we experience trauma, especially in childhood, our survival response is to close down and build a protective wall around our hearts.  Feeling becomes a slippery slope and feeling love for yourself is the hardest.

 

After all I’ve been through in my life I felt unworthy of love, even though I desperately craved it.  Living an entire life in a disassociated state was the result….until I started PRACTICING self-love and the walls came slowly down.

 

Putting myself and my needs last was second nature.  I became the world’s best people pleaser and was very good at looking after others with compassion and empathy. 

 

I just couldn’t do it for myself.  I couldn’t slow down enough from caring for others to listen to the messages my body desperately needed me to hear. 

 

And silence is uncomfortable, for it’s in those quiet moments we are faced with all the shadowy parts of ourselves, the parts we don't like, want to fix or have abandoned.  It's in the silence of rest that subtle messages tend to surface and our inner critic brutally reminds us of how unlovable and unworthy we are. 

Through Ayurveda, I was able to realize that everything belongs, the good, the bad, and what we label as "the ugly."

 

It's all part of us. But sometimes we need help to rewrite our inner stories and recognize the beauty that is amongst the brokenness. For me, I followed the Ayurvedic path because it offered me an invitation to know myself - to know all of me.

I love being able to support women to rest, reconnect with themselves and rewrite the stories of their lives.  

I love what I do. No two sessions (or stories) are the same.

My own health journey began in the kitchen. For years, I led workshops teaching women how to cook good, seasonal and nutritious food and I’ve always been fascinated by holistic remedies and rituals. Like many women, I was studying Ayurveda before I even knew it was Ayurveda!

 

In 2004, I became a Licensed Massage Therapist and Bodyworker and have supported my client's well-being through bodywork and energy work for the past 20 years. From there it was a natural progression as I became a Certified Yoga Instructor and Ayurvedic Health Coach. 

Whether I'm supporting my clients with massage, teaching a Seasonal Ayurvedic Wellness Workshop or working one on one with my clients as a coach, one theme runs throughout...

 

I am a story keeper. 

 

My clients have told me amazing things throughout the years and I am always humbled that they feel safe enough to share with me and trust me.

 

I hold these stories with reverence and respect and I am honoured to witness the stories that people carry. Far too often the stories we are telling ourselves about who we are, are negatively impacting our health and often in ways that are hard to recognize. 

It is through rest that it becomes possible to remember who we are and gain the confidence and self-trust to reclaim the stories of our lives and live our purpose.
